It was a busy week! Last Monday, we had a soundcheck party with Eric Hutchinson at the Knitting Factory for a handful of listeners. I didn’t stick around for the show because I had tickets to see Eric on TUESDAY night in Seattle.
Took my daughter and her friend to see the show, not only because Eric was one of the openers, but because he was headlining for her absolute favorite singer, Kelly Clarkson. At the last minute, compliments of one of our friendly record promoters, we were able to get backstage to meet her as well. I think it was Casey’s BEST DAY EVER!
We didn’t come right home…had a couple of night’s hotel accommodations, so we enjoyed the rain of Seattle. I caught a cold on Wednesday and was slightly miserable for the remainder of the trip. We had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Old Country Buffet in Federal Way. We came home Thursday night.
The next day, I was up early for Black Friday shopping. What was I thinking?!? It was cold and rainy and the crowds were overwhelming. Next year, I’m sleeping in.

Oh my. OK, so no tigers or bears, but lots of LIONs and other wild animals. And when I say WILD, I mean WILD. I saw Disney’s The Lion King at the INB Performing Arts Center the other day and the costumes were amazing! At the beginning of the Broadway play, the animals strutted down the aisles to the stage and though you could plainly see that they were just actors in the costumes, it was incredible! Great way to start the show. It was crazy how they could turn an animated movie into a full-length play, true to the music and dialogue. “Mufasa…do it again”!
If you haven’t seen in it yet, you really should. I recommend that you bring the entire family. Maybe and early Christmas present for someone special? Check out The LION KING, on now at the INB Performing Arts Center (formerly The Opera House).

What’s up? I always look forward to getting email from you. Let me know if there’s a song you’ve been hearing that you really like or perhaps you really hate. We’re willing to make adjustments on a moment’s notice! There is a lot of new music coming out now, bands gearing up for the holiday shopping season. This is the time of year when you’ll see lots of Greatest Hits packages or Live Compilations. Make sure to put them on your Christmas list. I used to spend a lot of time putting together my own greatest hits discs…because my favorites might not be the ones that the band chooses. I still have some mix tapes (cassettes) of my favorites that I never listen to anymore (and probably never will). You still listen to cassettes? Maybe I can give them to you.

They say “time flies when you’re having fun” and it must be true because these last three years have flown by.
I had an extra long weekend over the Columbus Day holiday. The family came over and we had a very fancy dinner with chicken from KFC and pizza from Papa Murphy’s. I like it when there’s leftover chicken from KFC, because I can bring it to work the next day for lunch.
I just had a piece here at work and realized it’s the first time I’ve eaten a piece of chicken in a very long time without five cats and two dogs circled around my feet. Quite nice!
By the way, if you donate a coat for a kid at Papa Murphy’s, they’ll give you a $4 off coupon on any pizza that you can use on that visit. Get a coupon for EVERY coat you donate.
